Define and Implement a PMO to achieve annual business objectives

Issue/Requirement:

One of the largest and profitable telecom service provider in India, wants to ensure their annual business objectives and target are well planned, tracked and achieved. The challenge is to implement and define an appropriate combination of Program and Project Management processes in a functional organization to achieve cross functional objectives.

Solution/Service:

I2m first mapped all the business objectives to the organization’s functions and then defined them as programs and projects. A Project Portfolio process was defined to facilitate program/project prioritization, based on benefits and risks, aligned to the strategic objectives of the organization. Interventions on plan development were carried out to map the program and project plans. A proof of concept environment on EPM System was deployed to help the organization experience the value of project performance dashboard aligned to business targets as well as define their system requirements for a full scale deployment. A PMO has been defined for the client to institutionalize the experiences of pilot project implementation carried out by i2m in partnership with organizations business leaders. A performance dashboard along with early warning system/alerts and impact of project performance to business objective was developed to better control the business outcomes.
